My Current Work in Progress
::May 2008
Finally, some cool weather! Sydney's been bathed in some abnormally warm days (yes, Virginia, it IS global warming) so it's great to get a reprieve. I love winter, especially sleeping under my wonderful, plush doona I won courtesy of Wheel of Fortune a few years back :) When I found out it was $450 retail, I wondered if something that lays on your bed could be that good. Oh, yeah. It can.
My fellow Diamond Gals are
blogging, and we've still to draw two of our major prizes - the gorgeous diamond pendant and the critique from Desire's Senior Editor, Melissa Jeglinski. Wander over to our
website to read more... or just check out our pretty covers!
Come over and blog with me!
- Bron Jameson's
blog (from 19th May)
Votes are now being taken for All About Romance's
Annual Cover Contest. Vote on your favorite (and worst!) cover, make a comment and you could appear on the winner's pages (mine did in 2004's
worst cover page!). There are some lovely covers in the series section, but I'm with
Bron Jameson on this - were are all the man/woman covers? Liz Fielding gets some gorgeous artwork, and I know I nominated more than a few myself. Oh, well, there's still next year.
Okay, now a serious note. I've spend the last day checking out community-based file sharing sites to see if my books have been posted for download. And by 'sharing' I don't mean passing a book onto your friends to read, I mean copying every single page, posting it up on a website or file-sharing community and letting any man and his dog download that book. What's wrong with that, I hear you ask? Apart from the fact that it's illegal to copy and share copyrighted material? Well, it's stealing, plain and simple - stealing from the author, because most don't make six figures and have to work damn hard for what they do earn. It's stealing from their children and families, whom they have to feed, clothe and educate. And it's stealing from you, the reader. You, who do the right thing and legitimately purchase a book. If crooks are breaking copyright law, it can only reflect in higher prices to combat the shortfall. And if you encounter this practice, you should report it to the author so they can take appropriate action.
